Dwarkanath Kotnis

Dwarkanath Shantaram Kotnis ( Marathi: द्वारकानाथ शांताराम कोटणीस, Dvārkānāth Śāṁtārām Kotnis; Chinese name: Ke Dihua柯棣华; born October 10, 1910 in Solapur, Maharashtra, † December 9, 1942 in China) was an Indian physician who in September 1938 with a medical team went to China to provide medical assistance in resisting the Japanese invasion during the Second Sino-Japanese war. He arrived in China in status epilepticus died and is revered today as an example of the Sino- Indian friendship. He is buried in a military cemetery in Hebei Province addition to Dr. Norman Bethune and the U.S. Nurse Jean Ewen. Another statue stands in Shijiazhuang against the Norman Bethune International Peace Hospital.

In 1946, an Indian film about Kotnis ( Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani, directed by and starring V. Shantaram ) and 1982 a Chinese film (Ke Dihua Daifu "柯棣华 大夫", " Dr. Kotnis ").

Grave

The grave of Dwarkanath Kotnis (Ke Dihua mu) in the district of Xinhua Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, since 1982 is on the list of monuments of Hebei Province.
