Earl of Donoughmore

Earl of Donoughmore is a hereditary British title of nobility in the Peerage of Ireland, named after the village of Donoughmore, County Cork, which is supported by the family Hely - Hutchinson.

The family seat was Knocklofty House in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.

Award

The title was in 1800 for Richard Hely - Hutchinson, 1st Viscount Donoughmore created. This was a general in the British Army. Previously, he had been more than ten years a deputy in the House of Commons.

The title was sealed with a special succession plan, after which he could fall to other sons of the mother of the first Earl, and their male descendants at the extinction of the line of the first Earls in the male line.

Subordinate title

The mother of the first Earl, Christiana Hely - Hutchinson, had been appointed in 1786 to Baroness Donoughmore, of Knocklofty, County of Tipperary. This title, which also belongs to the Peerage of Ireland, is now listed as a subordinate title of the respective Earl.

The first Earl had been raised already in 1797 created Viscount Donoughmore, of Knocklofty in the County of Tipperary. Even the title is still managed by the respective Earl and belongs to the Peerage of Ireland. The abovementioned particular succession plan was also awarded at the ceremony of this title.

In 1821 he was the would in the County of Tipperary, give a Viscount Hutchinson, of Knocklofty. This title belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom and was also provided with the special succession plan, the respective Earl until 1999 an automatic seat in the House of Lords.

The respective heir uses the courtesy title Viscount Suirdale fictitious. It was originally assumed that the title Viscount Donoughmore was awarded with this place name.

Another title

The second Earl was in 1801 the title Baron Hutchinson of Alexandria and Knocklofty been in the County of Tipperary, lent, who belonged to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. He was also a general in the British Army and fought in Egypt against Napoleon. When he died in 1832 without male offspring, went out this honor because he had not been awarded with the special succession plan mentioned above.
