Easington (District)

Easington was a District in the County of Durham in England. Administrative headquarters was the town of Easington. Other important towns were Peterlee and Seaham.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Urban District of Seaham and Easington Rural District. With 1.2% Easington has nationally the lowest proportion of residents who were born outside the UK. On 1 April 2009 in addition to Easington in County Durham all Dictricts were abolished in the course of administrative reform and combined into the Unitary Authority of Durham.
