East Kowloon Corridor

East Kowloon Corridor is the name for a highway in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The four-lane road runs from the end of Kai Tak Tunnel in the vicinity of the Sung Wong Toi Road up to the junction with the Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom, where both roads through the Chatham Road will be replaced.

This highway plays since its completion in 1981, together with the Kai- Wak tunnel ( which was opened a year later ) play an important role in the prevention of traffic congestion in Kowloon, as it allows a direct connection between Hung Hom and Kwun Tong and the traffic Seng points in to Kwa Wan, Mong Kok, Kowloon City and Ngau Chi Wan bypasses. The crossing-free or traffic lights loose road link has only two runs.

The road runs as a flyover above the Kowloon City Road and Ma Tau Wai Road. The only exit to the north is located just before the entrance to the Kai Tak Tunnel and leads northward to the Kowloon CIty Road and to the south east of the San Shan Road, from where westward drive up to East Kowloon Corridor south there.

Although the road East Kowloon Corridor is called, it is in the West Kowloon District. The term East ( ie, East ) has its origin in the distinction to further west West Kowloon Corridor, located at Lai Chi Kok. Moreover, there were at the beginning of the British colonial period, To Kwa Wan and Hung Hom in the eastern half of the Kowloon Peninsula. Since the architecture from the time comes before the establishment of the highway, the houses are very close to the route, and the residents, especially in the lower levels, complain of noise, especially during the rush hour.
