The East Norriton Township is both a township and a Census - designated place in Montgomery County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

The Township is part of the Delaware Valley metropolitan area referred to about 30 kilometers south of town in Philadelphia.

In the census in 2010, the East Norriton Township had 13,590 inhabitants, spread out over the 15.8 km ².

History

Townships are considered the oldest political subdivisions of counties in Pennsylvania.

As part of the settlement of North America westward oriented first communities originated first in border areas, before a sufficient settlement then led to the creation of additional districts.

East Norriton Township belonged to the territory of one founded by William Penn William town called town developed today Norristown from the out.

The adjoining land previously transferred as a gift to his son William Penn Penn, Jr., who in turn later in 1689 sold it to two merchants from Philadelphia, Isaac Norris and William Trent, for 850 pounds sterling. Eight years after that Norris acquired the shares in the land of Trent, so that became the sole owner.

Until 1730 Norristown remained an estate of William town. In quest of the inhabitants then Norriton Township was developed.

1909 arose from the Norriton Township by separating the East Norriton Township as a separate administrative unit.

The area of East Norriton Township was settled primarily by German immigrants.

Until the 1920s and 1930s, agriculture in East Norriton Township was still influential, before it came to an increase in settlement of industrial and service companies.
