Eberhard IV, Count of Württemberg

Eberhard IV, called " the Younger " (* August 23, 1388; † July 2, 1419 in Waiblingen) was Count of Württemberg.

Life

Eberhard IV was the only surviving child of the marriage of Count Eberhard III. and Antonia Visconti. On November 13, 1397, he became engaged to Henrietta of Montbéliard. Henriette was the eldest daughter and heiress of Henry of main Mömpelgard, who died in 1396, a year before his father, Count Stephen of Montbéliard. By 1407 at the latest marriage in the County of Montbéliard was part of Württemberg.

Eberhard IV participated from 1407 active in the government of the country. From 1409 he reigned jointly with Henriette, the county Mömpelgard. After the death of Eberhard III. on May 16, 1417 he took over the government in all of Württemberg. At his death on July 2, 1419 was his two sons who later Count Ludwig I and V. Ulrich, only seven and six years old. Therefore, a regency of Henriette and up to 32 councils Württemberg was used.

In addition, Eberhard had with his mistress Agnes of Dagersheim several more children:

  • Antonia of Dagersheim, ∞ Lyher Konrad, Chancellor in Stuttgart. From this marriage Elisabeth Lyher emerged, wife of Markgröninger provost Heinrich Volland, whose son Ambrosius Bolland (1472-1551) was Chancellor of Württemberg, imperial councilor and legal scholar at the University of Wittenberg.
  • Several other children
  • Anne of Dagersheim, ∞ Hans Ferg, called Vergenhans, Servant at the court of Urach. This connection come from the daughter of Anna Vergenhans, the son of Ludwig Vergenhans ( Dr. Probst in Stuttgart, canon of Constance and Augsburg, Chancellor in Stuttgart) and his brother John Vergenhans.
