Eberhard Zeidler

Eberhard Zeidler, OC, O.Ont ( born January 11, 1926 in Brown village; Complete name: Eberhard Heinrich Zeidler ) is a German - Canadian architect. He studied at the Bauhaus following University of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar and at the Technical University of Karlsruhe.

Zeidler immigrated to Canada in 1951 and 1954 by Blackwell and Craig in Peterborough, Ontario, partner. Later he founded a new company, Zeidler Roberts Partnership / Architects, Toronto, with offices in Washington DC, Florida, London and Berlin.

Zeidlers company is involved among other things the following projects:

  • Eaton Centre in Toronto, 1977-1981, together with Bregman Hamann Architects
  • McMaster Health Science Centre 1972
  • Ontario Place 1967-1971
  • Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre in Edmonton 1975-1986
  • Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, 1980-1984
  • Redevelopment of the Queen's Quay Terminal 1979-1983
  • Canada Place ( for Expo 86 in Vancouver )
  • Media Park in Cologne 1988-1991
  • Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach
  • Rogers Cantel Office Campus, Toronto

In 1984 he was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada. He also received the Order of Ontario in 1986 and a medal from the Royal Canadian Architecture Institute.
