Échemiré

Échemiré is a commune with 593 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Maine -et -Loire in the Pays de la Loire.

Geography

Échemiré is in the countryside Baugeois on a partially wooded hill between two fertile valleys. In the west, the district boundary also forms the border with the Canton Seiches -sur -le- Loir. To the north is bordered Cheviré -le- Rouge, in the east, the capital of the canton Baugé, in southern Le Vieil Baugé -. Between Échemiré Baugé and the Forêt de Baugé expands.

History

The founding Échemirés dates back to the 9th century.

Traffic

Échemiré is located on the department road D 766 Baugé - seiches. A connection to A 11 and the airport of Angers, both far from seiches are about 12 km away.

Culture and sights

The bright limestone of the area ( tuffeau ) is distributed as a classic building material for churches, castles and farmhouses. The most significant landmark is standing in the woods towards Baugé menhir. A second, smaller copy is immediately adjacent. The church of Saint -Martin dates from the 12th century. Furthermore, the site is home to a wash house at the field edge and a clay pottery in the former home of the become known as Général Tranquille Jean Châtelain.

Leisure and Tourism

Échemiré has a relatively strong relation to tourism. It was labeled an extensive trail system, especially at the site, a section of the French migration movement has its headquarters. At the Château de la Grifferaie, southeast of the village situated a little, an amusement park was created. Other hotels and private accommodation located in the village, as a leisure and recreation facility.
