Economic sanctions

Economic sanctions, all attempts to influence the behavior of other states by means of economic instruments. This attempted influence is via a - real or perceived - change in the cost / benefit ratios of alternative behaviors.

Types of sanctions

  • Comprehensive economic sanctions

Criticisms

The effectiveness of economic sanctions has long been one of the policy issues and therefore repeatedly in the crosshairs participating serious criticism.
