Ed Sullivan Theater

The Ed Sullivan Theater is a theater in Manhattan, New York City.

The theater is located at 1697-1699 Broadway between West 53rd and West 54th. The theater has 1,200 seats for visitors. The building was designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp and built between 1925 and 1927 by Arthur Hammerstein. Initially, the theater was called the Hammerstein Theater in memory of Oscar Hammerstein, the father of Arthur Hammerstein. 1931 Arthur Hammerstein went bankrupt and sold the theater. Since 1936, the U.S. television stations Columbia Broadcasting System 's owner.

From 1948 to June 1971, the theater was the TV studio for the show, The Ed Sullivan Show. Likewise, the show, The Merv Griffin Show and other game shows have been transferred from here. In the theater, the first appearance of the Beatles in the United States took place. Since 1993, the mission Late Show with David Letterman is recorded in the theater.
