Eddie Gladden

Eddie Gladden ( born December 6, 1937 in Newark (New Jersey); † September 30, 2003 ) was an American jazz drummer.

Gladden started his professional career in the music scene Newarker; he was then known for his collaboration with organist Larry Young, on whose albums Heaven on Earth (1968) and Mother Ship ( 1969) he played. He also played with Freddie Roach, Woody Shaw and Johnny Coles. In 1972 he went with the likewise derived from Newark James Moody on tour; later he worked among others with Kenny Dorham, Jimmy McGriff, Shirley Scott, Richie Cole, "Big" John Patton and Horace Silver. In 1978, he appeared in New York's Carnegie Hall in Dexter Gordon / Johnny Griffin Quintet.
