Richie Cole (musician)

Richie Cole ( * February 29, 1948 in Trenton, New Jersey ) is an American jazz alto saxophonist -.

Cole began with ten years of the game on the alto saxophone, inspired by his father, who owned a jazz club in New Jersey. He won a scholarship and began his professional music career with a two-year training at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He first played with Buddy Rich, then with Lionel Hampton, Doc Severinsen at and Eddie Jefferson. He is widely known for his creative Bebop game and appeared with Manhattan Transfer, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Stitt and Nancy Wilson. The early 1990s he founded the Alto Madness Orchestra.

Cole has recorded over 50 albums and CDs. He is still very active on concert tours and given instruction in master classes at universities.
