Eddie Kirkland

Eddie Kirkland ( born August 16, 1923 in Jamaica, † February 27, 2011 in Crystal River, Florida), was an African-American blues musician.

He was a singer, harmonica player and guitarist, a representative of the genre Electric Blues. From 1949 to 1962 he was a manager and accompanist of John Lee Hooker; he can be heard on many of his recordings from this period as a second guitarist. 1962 and 1963 he was a guitarist and bandleader Otis Redding. In the second half of the 1960s he worked as a car mechanic. From 1970 he was re- discovered as a blues musician. Until his death, he toured almost continuously and has published numerous recordings. Eddie Kirkland died at age 87 in a car accident in Florida.
