Edificio Panamericano

The Edificio Panamericano is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo.

It is located at the highest point of the Barrios Buceo near the Rambla Armenia and opposite the Port of Buceo on Avenida Luis A. De Herrera 1042. As an architect of the late 1950s, planned and built from 1960 to 1964 (other sources list below the annual figures 1959 and 1962, serving at ) residential purposes building complex acted Raul Sichero Bouret. The construction was carried out by the company Rambla Horizontal SA. Situated at an altitude of 50 meters, a length of 195 meters and a width of 13 meters, 17 floors above ground in the Edificio Panamericano housed. The building, which was originally expected construction costs amounted to 22 million pesos, covers a footprint of 1,700 m², while the total area of 374 apartments housed there on almost three acres ( 27,000 m²) is to quantify. The complex also includes a garage with a capacity of 300 cars. Contrary to the original focused on ten blocks plans only half were ultimately built.

The Edificio Panamericano was supported by the Junta Departamental de Montevideo by decree of 1995 to the urban cultural heritage ( "Bien of Interest Municipal " ) declared in 2005.
