Edmond Richard (cinematographer)

Edmond Richard ( born January 6, 1927 in Paris ) is a French cinematographer.

Life

Edmond Richard completed a degree in aviation engineering from and took over the design and development of cameras for the movie business. Initially working as a camera assistant, he was responsible for in 1961 his first film as director of photography. Richard was particularly noted for his ability to illuminate film sets and establish effective camera positions. For Orson Welles Richard was twice involved in and in three films for Luis Buñuel. A special place in his artistic work takes The Legion of the Damned on the novel by Victor Hugo, which he decisively influenced his art work.
