Edmund Nelson Carpenter

Edmund Nelson Carpenter (* June 27, 1865 in Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania, † November 4, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1925 and 1927 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edmund Carpenter attended the common schools and Wyoming Seminary in Kingston. He then worked in the mining industry and in the production of metal sheets. In 1893 he joined the National Guard of Pennsylvania, in which he rose in the course of time to the Major. As a member of the National Guard, he took the rank of first lieutenant and the Spanish-American War of 1898 in part. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In 1918 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress yet.

In the congressional elections of 1924, Carpenter was in the twelfth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat John J. Casey on March 4, 1925. Since he has not been confirmed in 1926, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1927. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives to Carpenter operated again as a manufacturer of sheet metals. Politically, he is no more have appeared. He died on 4 November 1952 in Philadelphia and was buried in Wilkes - Barre.
