Edmund River

The Edmund River is a river in the west of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the region of Gascoyne.

Geography

The river rises south of the Barlee Range and flows southwest to its mouth in the Lyons River between settlements Gilford and Mangaroon.

History

The first European who discovered the river was in 1858 the researcher Francis Gregory. General John Septimus Roe named it after the naval hero Admiral Sir Edmund Lyons.
