Edna Stern

Edna Stern ( born March 6, 1977 in Brussels ) is a Belgian- Israeli pianist.

Life

She started at the age of 6 years to play the piano. At the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv, she studied piano with Viktor Derevianko and Natasha Tadson. She then studied at the Chapelle Royale Reine Elisabeth in Brussels, among other things, she took classes with Martha Argerich. In 1996 she moved to Basel, among other things, she studied there for four years with Krystian Zimerman. Later she participated in master classes at the International Piano Foundation in Como for Alicia de Larrocha at Dimitri Bashkirow, Andreas Staier and Leon Fleisher.

In 2000 she won the international competition of Senigallia and 2001 the Juventus Award. 2003 settled Edna Stern in Paris. There they discovered the fortepiano as an instrument in itself. Their first CD release, Chaconne, was honored by Arte as the best CD of the year 2005.

Since September 2009, she taught at the Royal College of Music in London.

Her repertoire ranges from Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Luciano Berio to contemporary composers.
