Edoardo Zardini

Edoardo Zardini ( born November 19, 1976 in Cortina d' Ampezzo ) is an Italian former Alpine skier. He was a member from 1999 to 2008 of the Italian national ski team, his special discipline was the slalom.

Career

It is the merit of Zardinis mother that he came to skiing. At the age of five years he was a member of the ski clubs Cortina. He celebrated his first signify their success at the age of 18, when he was second in the slalom at the Italian Junior Championship. After leaving school he devoted himself entirely to the ski training. Through various FIS races and success in the European Cup in 1999 he made the jump into the Italian national ski team.

His debut in the World Cup was Zardini in January 2000 in Chamonix, but at first could not remain in it. For two years he remained without a valid result. The series of failures ripped in January 2002. During the World Cup slalom in Wengen, he went surprisingly to third place. With this performance, he qualified for the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, where he was eliminated, however, in the first slalom run.

In the following two years, he could not almost confirm its performance of Wengen also. With one exception, a knockout slalom, he remained again without placement. Only the beginning of 2004 he succeeded in some successes. With three finishes in the top ten, he came in the slalom Rating 2003/04 season ranked 18th in the following three seasons he managed only one result ( ranked 22nd in Schladming on January 24, 2006). 9th February 2008 Zardini drove his last World Cup race in Garmisch -Partenkirchen.
