Édouard Michelin (born 1963)

Édouard Michelin ( born August 13, 1963 in Clermont- Ferrand, † 26 May 2006 the Ile de Sein ) was a French manager.

Michelin graduated from the elite school École Centrale Paris, before he joined the company, which is run by the family since 1889. There, he headed to several departments the North American business until he from his father François Michelin took over the leadership of the company in 1999. The CEO and shareholder of Reifenkonzers Michelin drowned on a fishing trip near the Ile de Sein on the French Atlantic coast. How the accident happened, so far has not been established. He leaves behind his wife and six children. On 31 May 2006 the festive funeral service was held in Clermont -Ferrand.

In honor of Édouard Michelin have waived the usual champagne shower at the award ceremony in the next Formula 1 race in Monaco the pilots. The tire brand Michelin provided until 2006, several Formula 1 teams, including all the teams represented on the podium, especially Renault F1 ( Fernando Alonso ), McLaren- Mercedes ( Juan Pablo Montoya ) and Red Bull Racing (David Coulthard ).
