Eduard Nápravník

Eduard Nápravník (also:. . Eduard Napravnik Franzevich; born August 24, 1839 in Býšť ' in Hradec Králové, † 10.jul / November 23 1916greg in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian composer and conductor of Czech origin.

Napravnik studied and taught in Prague. In 1862 he became conductor of the Imperial Opera in St. Petersburg; in this capacity, he conducted the first performance of the opera Boris Godunov. In addition, he headed from 1869 to 1881, the symphony concerts of the Imperial Russian Musical Society and conducted at the Mariinsky Theatre.

He composed four operas, four symphonies, a piano concerto, chamber music, piano pieces, choral works and songs.
