Eduard Puricelli

Eduard Puricelli ( born November 16, 1826 in Rheinböllerhütte; † December 4, 1893 in Trier ) was a businessman and member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation.

Life

His ancestor Giacomo Antonio Puricelli (* 1719, † unknown) came from Lake Como. His father Heinrich Puricelli (1797-1876) was with his brothers Friedrich Ludwig (1792-1880) and Carl Theodor II (1784-1872) owner of Rheinböllerhütte. His mother was Eugenia Traschier ( 1807-1873 ). Edward attended as a 9- year-old from 1835 to 1839, the de Laspéesche educational institution in Wiesbaden. From 1854 he worked in the family Krefeld gasworks. In 1860 he bought a 34 -year-old gasworks in Trier and graduated in 1865 a long-term gas supply contract with the city of Trier from. So he brought before the invention of electricity, or the light bulb, light in town and houses. In addition to the construction of a coal gas supply, it acquired interests to Erzversorgung of their own company, including in Nancy, was co-owner of a steel company with offices in Trier and in Rheinboellen. At times, he was one of the wealthiest citizens of the city of Krefeld. On 28 January 1880 he married Gertrud Hyacinthe Recklinghausen ( 1832-1899 ). In 1867 he was a member of the newly elected Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency Trier 3 (Trier City). After its inauguration, he joined the Free Conservative Association.

He donated et al the orphanage Helen Berg, the shrine of the saint -rock relic Puricelli'sche Foundation in Rheinboellen and the volt - man organ for the parish church of St. Peter in Lieser.

Edward had two sisters. Eugénie Puricelli (1840-1862), called Jenny died, already with 22 years of tuberculosis. His four years younger sister Franziska Puricelli (1830-1896), known as Fanny, survived him by three years. She was married to her cousin Charles III (1824-1911) and died with 66 years as a respected founder of the city of Bad Kreuznach.

Puricellis both sons died early. His only daughter, Maria Helena Henrietta Brigitta Puricelli ( born 1 February 1855 in Krefeld, † 1936), married in 1880 the high Prussian official Clemens Freiherr von Schorlemer -Lieser. After Schorlemer change to Koblenz in 1905 they made a magnificent castle Lieser at Bernkastel -Kues build and renamed themselves Barons of Schorlemer -Lieser. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II was one of their numerous guests. Today, it is converted into a hotel.
