Eduardo Alonso-Crespo
Eduardo Alonso- Crespo ( born March 18, 1956 in San Miguel de Tucumán ) is an Argentine composer and conductor.
Alonso- Crespo graduated as a civil engineer at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán and obtained at the Escuela de Artes Musicales University a diploma as a musician. A Fulbright Scholarship enabled him to stay in the U.S.. Here he was taught by Lukas Foss, Leonardo Balada and Samuel Jones and earned a master's degree in conducting at Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his training with Max Rudolf, Gunther Schuller and Henry Holt.
He worked as a conductor of Tucumán Symphony Orchestra for eleven years as musical director of the Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble, and was a guest conductor, inter alia, in Chile, Mexico, the U.S., Portugal and France. In 1998 he made his debut at the Teatro Colón with a performance of Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony. He also taught as a guest lecturer and professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to chamber music and symphonic works composed Alonso- Crespo several stage works, including the ballet Medea (1985 ), an incidental music to Macbeth and the opera Juana la loca (1991) and Putzi ( 2004).
