Education in Oman

The education system in Oman consisted of only three madrasas for boys with a total of about 900 students to Sultan Qaboos seized power in 1970. Kindergarten

General schools

In Oman, no compulsory education exists. Visiting a general education is free. Since the school year 1998/1999 a total school to 10th grade was introduced in Oman, which replaced the hitherto three-tier system. Tertiary education

The Omani Tertiary education is relatively young. In 1986, the first and only state university was founded. Starting in 1999, private universities are allowed in the Sultanate.
