Edvard Hoem

Edvard Hoem (born 10 March 1949 in Fræna, Møre og Romsdal ) is a Norwegian writer.

Hoems father was a lay preacher, and the Bible and the hymnbook belonged to the everyday life of his six children. As a young man Edvard Hoem rebelled against his personal background and called for many years as " godless ". In the seventies he also became involved in the Communist ACP. However, he says that certain texts of the Bible have influenced him since his literary beginnings.

With 18 Hoem moved to Oslo and published in 1969 his first poetry collection Som grønne music antar. As a 25 -year-old he made in Norway the literary breakthrough with the novel Kjærleikens ferjereiser (German ferry rides of love, 1987). Since then he has written a number of novels, plays, poems and psalms. He also works as a translator. From 1997 to 1999, Hoem director at the theater Teateret was vårt in Molde.
