Edward Carrere

Edward Carrere ( born October 13, 1906 in Mexico City; † December 19, 1984 in Mission Viejo, California ) was a Mexican- American production designer and production designer.

Life

After completing his education in private schools of his native town and at the Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles Edward Carrere joined in 1932 by RKO Warner Bros.. For a man like explosives, one of his first films, he designed a range of architectural designs that be oriented to European modernism and to Frank Lloyd Wright. In the following years, he worked with directors such as Raoul Walsh, Michael Curtiz or Alfred Hitchcock. In addition to the features of historical films he also designed sets for contemporary film productions that were filmed on location. For one of his last works, the Western The Wild Bunch - They knew no law of Sam Peckinpah, he designed a street of a small town Texas in 1913 and her Mexican counterpart.

Awards

For his work on Camelot - On King Arthur's court Carrere was awarded in 1968 with the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction. For the same price, he was also nominated twice, in 1950 for The amorous adventures of Don Juan and 1961 for Sunrise at Campobello.
