Edward Löwe

Edward or Edward Leo (also Loewe, Lowe ) (* September 23, 1794, † February 25, 1880 in London ) was an English chess player.

Biography

Leo, who was, according to John Berger's from Prague, came in 1820 in the British capital. Since the 1830s he was a regular visitor to the company founded by Samuel Ries Grand Cigar Divan, where met the London's finest chess players. In 1851, as took place in London, the first World's Fair, Leo founded the Imperial hotel on the beach. It served as a regular " flophouse district " of foreign chess players. Chess career
