Hugh Alexander Kennedy

Hugh Alexander Kennedy ( * 1809, † October 22, 1878 ) was a British chess master.

Kennedy was formerly a captain in the Army and a leading London chess player. In 1844, he lost a game against Howard Staunton (3: 8). In 1845 he played in a team with Staunton in Portsmouth in two telegraph games ( lost one and a draw ) against a team of Henry Thomas Buckle, George Walker, William Davies Evans, Perigal and Tuckett in London. He lost two games against Elijah Williams in 1846, against Edward lion in 1849, both in London.

In 1862, he lost perhaps the first international telegraph match against Serafino Dubois.
