Edward Macnaghten, Baron Macnaghten

Edward Macnaghten, Baron Macnaghten, Baron Macnaghten, of Runkerry in the County of Antrim, 4th Baronet Workman Macnaughton, of Dundarave in the County of Antrim GCB GCMG PC ( born February 3, 1830 in Bloomsbury, † February 17, 1913 ) was a British politician of the Conservative Party and a lawyer, who in 1876 as a Life peer was also a member of the House of Lords several years a deputy in the House of Commons, and most recently as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, due to the Appellate jurisdiction Act.

Macnaghten, son of the 2nd Baronet Sir Edmund Charles Workman Macnaughton graduated, post-school studies in law at Trinity College ( Dublin ) and at Trinity College, University of Cambridge and received in 1857 his legal approval to the Chamber of Lawyers ( Inns of Court ) of Lincoln 's Inn. He then began working as a barrister and was awarded for attorney's services in 1880 the title of Kronanwalts (Queen 's Counsel ).

On March 31, 1880, he was first elected as a candidate of the Conservative Party for Members in the House of Commons and represented the constituency of Antrim there first and last November 30, 1885 to February 11, 1887 for the constituency of North Antrim.

Lord Justice, House of Lords Member and Descendants

Last Macnaghten was appointed by Letters patent dated January 25, 1887 due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life peer with the title Baron Macnaghten, of Runkerry in the County of Antrim, a member of the House of Lords to the nobility and worked until his death 1913 as Lord Justice (Lord of Appeal in Ordinary). At the same time he was also Privy Councillor in 1887.

Lord Macnaghten, in 1911 the Order of the Bath in 1902 was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George as well, was on July 21, 1911 and succeeded his elder brother as 4th Baronet. Furthermore, it was 1907 so-called " Bencher " and Treasurer of the Law Society of Lincoln 's Inn.

The eldest son of Sir Edward Charles Macnaghten, who also Barrister, Solicitor General, and Bencher of the Law Society of Lincoln 's Inn, and followed him in 1913 as 5th Baronet, while the second and third sons of Sir Francis Alexander Macnaghten and Sir Frederic Fergus Macnaghten later 8th and 9th were Baronet. His fourth son Sir Malcolm Martin Macnaghten was barrister, Queen's Counsel and Bencher of the Law Society of Lincoln 's Inn and a few years a Member of the House of Commons. In addition, he was later 1928-1947 Judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases ( King's Bench Division ) undwurde to the Commissioner for England and Wales High Court of Justice in 1948 also Privy Councillor.
