Edward Raczyński (1786–1845)

Count Edward Raczyński ( also known under the German name Edward Raczynski, born April 2, 1786 in Poznan, † January 20, 1845 in Santomischel ) was a Polish nobleman from the noble Raczyński. The brother of Atanazy Raczyński founded the Raczyński Library in Poznan. After he was enthusiastic about the first two cantos of Lord Byron Childe Harold's Pilgrim - song, 1814, he organized a trip to Greece and Asia Minor. After his return he published a magnificent volume in large folio format with the title Dziennik Podrozy do Turcyi odbyty w roku MDCCCXIV with a trip report. Three years later the work was published in the same presentation under the title Picturesque travel in some Provincen of the Ottoman Empire and in German language.
