Edward Roy Pike

Edward Roy Pike ( born December 4, 1929 in Perth ) is an Australian physicist who deals with quantum optics.

He studied at Oxford and was from 1958 to 1960 as a Fulbright scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 1960 to 1991 he was in the Department of Physics at the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment, from 1967 as a senior scientist from 1973 as Deputy Chief Scientific Officer and from 1984 as Chief Scientific Officer. From 1984 to 1986 he was a visiting professor at Imperial College London. In 1986 he was Clerk Maxwell Professor of Theoretical Physics at King's College London and from 1991 to 1994 Head of the School of Physical Sciences and Engineering.

From 1995 to 2004 he was director of software company Stilo Technology Ltd.. (until 2002 as Chairman ). From 1981 to 1985 he was Chairman of the publisher Adam Hilger.

In 1996 he received the Faraday Medal ( IOP). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Charles Parsons Prize he received in 1975, and the Institute of Physics, whose Guthrie Medal he was awarded in 1995 and its vice- president, he was from 1981 to 1985.
