Edwin Francis Gay

Edwin Francis Gay ( born October 27, 1867 in Detroit, † February 8, 1946 in Pasadena ) was an American economic historian and publicist.

Vita

Gay graduated from the University of Michigan from in 1890. In 1902 he received his doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

In the same year he succeeded his teacher, the English economic historian William Ashley (1860-1927), who held the first chair of economic history in the English-speaking world at Harvard. Gay was in Harvard first lecturer in economic history; In 1903 he became assistant professor in 1906 and professor.

Edwin F. Gay was in the years 1908-1919, the first dean of the Harvard Business School.

In the years 1920 to 1923 was Gay President of the New York Evening Post.

Honors
