Edwin Holmes (astronomer)
Edwin Holmes ( 1838 or * 1839, † 1918 or early 1919 ) was a British amateur astronomer.
He discovered on November 6, 1892 recurring comets 17P/Holmes, for which he was awarded by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific with the Donohoe Comet Medal. Actually, Holmes wanted to watch that evening Jupiter and was surprised when he met the comet.
