Edwin R. Reynolds

Edwin Ruthvin Reynolds ( born February 16, 1816 in Fort Ann, Washington County, New York, † July 4, 1908 in Albion, New York ) was an American politician. In the years 1860 and 1861 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edwin Reynolds enjoyed a classical education. He then spent six years as a senior teacher ( principal) at the Albion Academy. Between 1843 and 1845 he was District in Orleans County. York. After studying law and his 1843 was admitted to the bar in 1846, he began to work in Albion in this profession. In the 1850s he joined the Republican Party, founded at that time.

After the death of Mr Silas Mainville Burroughs Reynolds was at the due election for the 31 seats of New York as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 5 December 1860. Until March 3, 1861, he could end the current parliamentary term in Congress. This period was marked by the events in the immediate run-up to the Civil War.

Between 1864 and 1868 was Edwin Reynolds judges and county council in the local Orleans County. He then practiced as a lawyer again. He died on July 4, 1908 in Albion, where he was also buried.
