Eero Aarnio

Eero Aarnio ( born July 21, 1932 in Helsinki) is a Finnish interior and furniture designer. Particularly well known he was for his designs for plastic and fiberglass chairs.

Aarnio studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki in 1962 and founded his own office. The following year he designed his famous Ball Chair. The similar Bubble Chair was clear. Another important chair that Aarnio has designed the Pastil, which was in 1968 awarded the American Industrial Award.

Eero Aarnio was one of the first Finnish designers of artificial materials such as fiberglass, acrylic glass and plastic, dealt. His designs are an important part of the 1960s and also a component of many science-fiction films.

Eero Aarnio is active as an interior and furniture designers today.
