Eesti Telekom

AS Eesti Telekom is the largest telecommunications company in Estonia and is part of the TeliaSonera Group. AS Eesti Telekom is a holding company. The business with the end customer in Estonia is operated by subsidiaries. These include the brands and companies:

  • Elion, landline offers the company " AS Elion Esindus " " Elion Enterprises AS ", " Elion Ettevõtted AS"
  • EMT, mobile offers the " Eesti mobile phone ( EMT) AS"
  • " NETI ", a search engine
  • " AS MicroLink ," IT services

Former trademarks of Eesti Telkom, which are no longer carried on, are Atlas, et, hot, and Hello.

History

The company was founded after the independence of Estonia in 1991, took over the existing state telephone network. The company start with a copper cable from Soviet Russian time and a long list of people who were waiting for a telephone connection. Equipped with an eight -year monopoly, the company invested in the construction of a new telephone network. In the 1990 entry in the Internet followed by the search engine NETI, Internet access under the brand Atlas and email under Hot. As 2000 ended the monopoly in the fixed network, the telephone services were positioned under et in the competitive market.

In 1993, the subsidiary " Eesti Telefon " for the fixed network and EMT were established for the radio network for business operations. The Finnish and Swedish owners exchanged their shares in the subsidiaries into shares in the publicly listed parent company and bundled them into the "Baltic Tele AB", which owned the majority of shares in Eesti Telekom from 2005. In 2008, the largest shareholder of the company, the Baltic Tele AB, which owned 60 % of the shares and the state of Estonia with 24%. 2009 TeliaSonera acquired through its wholly owned subsidiary, Baltic Tele AB of the co-owners of the other 40 % of the shares, after which the listing in January 2010 has been terminated.
