Egon Adler

Egon Adler ( born February 18, 1937 in Großpösna in Leipzig ) is a former German cyclist. He started for the SC rotation Leipzig.

The early career

The trained roofers in 1958, in part for the first time at the Peace Race and immediately won the longest stage of Görlitz to Berlin. In the overall individual competition he finished an excellent 5th place. He repeated the following year, where he won two more stages for this success. In 1959, he also was able to win the silver medal in the two - team driving in the GDR championships.

The 1960

In 1960 he again won two stages and took over after his victory at the 9th section of the first yellow jersey of the overall leader of his team-mate Manfred white leather. His lead in the overall standings, he was able to hold until he crashed hard on the final day. Egon Adler took part in 1961 for the fourth time in a row at the Peace Race, but was unable to match the success of his previous appearances. He also finished in 5th place at the Track Cycling World Championships for Stayers 1965.

After his career, Adler served as an independent taxi operators. His son Uwe Adler could not achieve the success of the father in the eighties as a cyclist.
