Egyptomania

Egyptomania is called a well-known since ancient expression of enthusiasm for all things Egyptian, hence Egypt -mode or Ägyptophilie.

Fundamental to the modern Egypt enthusiasm the Egyptian expedition of Napoleon Bonaparte was in the years 1798-1801. It was followed by the whole of Europe sensing Egypt fashion in clothing to architecture and interior design.

Had a similar effect in Europe the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter in 1922 and 1924 following issuance of the bust of Nefertiti. She had been uncovered during excavations of the German Oriental Society (DOG) on 1912.
