Eickumer Mühlenbach
The Eickumer mill creek (also: Kinsbeke or Kinz (s) bach ) is a right tributary of Aa in the northeast of the German Federal State of North Rhine -Westphalia.
Geography
The lake has a total length of 7.4 km. The catchment area covers a section of the Ravens Mulde west of Herford. The body of water rises near Pödinghausen on the border with Eickum and flows south-west of the city center in Herford the Johannisbach / Aa ( rkm 2.6 ). After confluence of Asbeke the waters is usually called Kinzbach, officially, however, the name is consistently Eickumer mill creek.
The water flows through on its way from the source to the mouth of the following municipalities:
- Enger
- Herford
On his way, the water takes downriver considered the following waters on:
- Asbeke ( 3.7 L )
- Bremer Hagen Bach ( R 2.9 )
- Lambach ( 2.3 L )
- Heier mill creek (R 1.1 )

Environment
About 5 km of the stream - as well as the tributaries Asbeke and Lambach, including shore meadows - are part of the nature reserve ( NSG) Asbeke-/Kinzbachtal and the NSG Asbeketal. Taken together, they form the third largest NSG in Herford. The area is formally under the protection of two nature reserves, but the natural area form a unit. 99.5 ha of which are in the range of landscape plan Herford Hidden Hausen, 21 ha in the area of landscape plan Passenger- Spengemann. The valley is worth protecting because it is on the one hand, a typical for the Ravens Berger country strong Sieksystem, on the other hand are also valuable habitat for flora and fauna in the midst of a densely populated area. The Siek is much branched and has in places a strong box section with up to 10m high escarpment on. The moist Siekggrund with its meadows, reedbeds, deciduous forests (mainly alder, ash and oak, laurel willow individual ) and numerous natural flow and Still waters are home to a large number of plants of the Red List and rare amphibians.
