Eilean Dubh (Kyles of Bute)

Eilean Dubh ( German: Black Island ) is a small Scottish island. It is located at the northernmost point of the sea arm Kyles of Bute, which separates the island of Bute from the Cowal peninsula on the Scottish mainland, at the junction of Loch Riddon. Administratively it is part of the unitary authority Argyll and Bute. In addition to about a kilometer southeast, Burnt Islands Eilean Dubh is the only major island in the 27 km long Kyles of Bute. At the northernmost point of the island and on the opposite side of the country there are small leading light for the waterway.

The approximately 300 m long and 160 m wide island is just 80 meters away from the Cowal coast. Buttock Point, the northernmost headland of Bute, is about 800 meters away. It is a wooded, rocky island, whose highest point is 19 m rises above the Wasserobfläche. Eilean Dubh is uninhabited, but is there the private cemetery of the Clark family. In this example the 100 m2 of the complex there are a total of eight grave stones, of which the oldest dates back to 1937. The cemetery is currently still used as such.
