Einsteinium (III ) oxide is an oxide of the element einsteinium. It has the molecular formula Es2O3.

Occurrence

Since all isotopes of Einsteiniums are only produced artificially, einsteinium (III ) oxide has no natural resources.

Representation

Einsteinium (III ) oxide was obtained by annealing the corresponding nitrate in submicrogram amounts.

Properties

Einsteinium (III ) oxide is a colorless solid. Three modifications are known. The lattice parameters of the body-centered cubic crystal is 1076.6 ± 0.6 pm. On this basis, the ionic radius of Es3 was calculated to be 92.8 pm. It is still further a monoclinic and a hexagonal lanthanum ( III) oxide - structure is known.

Safety

Classifications according to the Hazardous Substances Ordinance are not available because they only include the chemical danger and play a very minor role compared to the risks based on the radioactivity. Even the latter applies only if there is a relevant material for this amount.
