Eira River

The Eira is a river in the Norwegian Fylke Møre og Romsdal.

The Eira flows from Lake Eikesdalsvatnet over a distance of 7 km north to Eresfjord, a branch of the long fjord. The Eira forms the lower reaches of a 87 km long river system, which drains an area of ​​1122.21 km ². With the expansion of hydropower in the catchment area of ​​Eira and the damming of the river Aura Aursjøen at the source, much of the amount of water to the aura power plant in Sunndalsøra and Grytten power plant is diverted near Åndalsnes.

Earlier, when the average discharge at the mouth of Eira 39 m³ / sec, salmon were still numerous in abundance.
