Eisberg (Lusatian Highlands)

The iceberg is a 330 meter high hill in the eastern Lusatian mountains in Saxony. It is located west of Grosshennersdorf, just off the federal highway 178 in the immediate neighborhood is the long mountain which is 400 meters in a south-easterly direction.

The tip of the iceberg originated when accumulated during the volcanic activity in the area Nephelinbasanitlava about an outbreak vent and froze. The deeper layers are made of silk Berger granodiorite.

In earlier times, two quarries were opened up on this mountain, which mainly provided construction material for the nearby villages. Today, however, these are like the entire tip of the iceberg, covered by an oak forest and thorn bushes.
