The ice rink Frankfurt, also known as the ice rink at the Bornheimer Hang or ice rink on Ratsweg according to their urban location, is an ice stadium owned by the city of Frankfurt am Main in the village of Bornheim below the Bornheimer slope.

History

Previously there was a skating rink at the Velodrome stadium at the forest. In the 1970s, the planning for the construction of an ice rink began behind the fairground. The design of the architectural and engineering community healing (Frankfurt ) & Deyle - (Stuttgart) was designed from the outset for multi-purpose use. In addition to the main ice the size of a hockey field (approx. 1,800 m² ), which (of which 3,246 seats, 3,732 standing and 12 disabled spaces ) is surrounded by 6,990 spectators, the facility has an enclosed smaller ice hall (675 m²) and a large 400 m long outer ring. The ice rink was opened on December 19, 1981 and was long considered one of the most modern buildings of its kind in Germany.

Since closure of the old skating rink ice rink is the only ice rink in Frankfurt.

Use

In addition to various events taking place, such as figure skating competitions, the hall to DEL Club Frankfurt Lions served mainly to their license withdrawn in summer 2010 as a training and performance venue. 2004 was able to celebrate his first German championship, the DEL - founding member here.
