History

In the early Middle Ages the Bach Eitraha is called. The syllable " Eitr " goes back to a Germanic or Celtic term for bog or Moder, " aha " is the syllable for water or river. The place name pus field ( the field in the Moor ) and the village Eitra are derived from Bach 's name.

The river fed some water mills along its run. In the 19th century a part of the stream to power the former textile industry in Eitra was diverted by a weir in Bode.
