El Canto del Loco

El Canto del Loco (English: Song of the madman ) was a Spanish pop-punk band that was formed in 2000 in Madrid. In 2005 she won the MTV Europe Music Award in the category " Best Spanish Act".

Band History

El Canto del Loco were founded in Madrid by singer Daniel Martín Iván Ganchegui. They called themselves originally only provisionally so to play on the song " El Canto del Gallo" Radio Futura, since they were both big fans of this band. In a theater school that they attend, they met the other band members later and started her first rehearsals as a band.

Due to problems, the quartet disbanded briefly but reunited quickly with one change: David Otero, a cousin of Daniel, the new guitarist was. After Daniel had in a flamenco festival Alejandro " Jandro " Velázquez, the son of a friend of his parents met, this was shortly after the new drummer of the band. The bassist was replaced by José María " Chema " Ruiz.

The band recorded their first demo tape in just 48 hours in a small independent studio. Shortly thereafter, the producer Pedro del Moral submitted the band an offer by the label Sony BMG.

Their first album, " El Canto del Loco " was released in 2000 and was approximately 80,000 times proceeds. Two years later the second album " A Contracorriente " was put on the market. After Iván Ganchegui had left in May 2003, " El Canto del Loco ," was the third studio album, " Estados de Animo ," published. It is a set of 12 songs, which means the success of the band beyond the limits of time in Spain.

After hundreds of concerts in Spain and Latin America, the band released their fourth album, " Zapatillas " which earned the highest sales to date in June 2005. In the same year they went with the Spanish band Hombres G on tour and play kill before mehrr than 56,000 visitors at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid.

Three years later, on 1 April 2008, her album " Personas ", the first single " Eres tonto! " is. In 2010, the band announced their dissolution.
