El Chavo del Ocho

El Chavo del Ocho is a Mexican television series that celebrated tremendous success throughout Latin America and Spain. It was translated into several languages, including English, Brazilian Portuguese, Hindi and Russian. First broadcasts were produced in 1971 from 1973 to 1980, the series aired weekly. Since 2006, the Chavo del Ocho as an animated series.

Action

The series revolves around the everyday life of Chavo del Ocho (Spanish for The boy from the eighth ), a Mexican boy from a housing estate in Mexico City, and the inhabitants thereof. In the program usually issues such as poverty and neglect of street children are humorisiert. A characteristic feature of the program is the wit, which is mainly based on ambiguity, and the resulting confusion.

The eight originally stood for the time slot of the series on channel 8 of the Mexican television. After this had changed, and to avoid confusion, the number of the apartment of Chavo was used as an explanation. However Apartment Number Eight is never seen in the series, but instead uses the boy a barrel on the grounds of the apartment block as the preferred place to stay.

Main characters

  • El Chavo del Ocho ( Roberto Gómez Bolaños ) is a Mexican boy and lives in the barrel of the housing development. His real name is not known. He is always innocent, with good intentions, and is thereby often victims of other children.
  • Quico ( Carlos Villagrán ) is the son of Doña Florinda and warped. He is arrogant and always wants to be the focus. He is always dressed in a sailor suit and also stands out because its thick cheeks.
  • Don Ramón ( Ramón Valdés ) is a widower in the neighborhood. He would have no problems, but is always part of the turbulent events. Don Ramón is the typical Latin American eternal unemployed without education and lazy but with heart.
  • Doña Florinda ( Florinda Meza ) is the mother of Quico. She is convinced that she and her son the neighborhood are morally and financially superior.
  • Profesor Jirafales ( Rubén Aguirre ) is the teacher in the district and has a romantic relationship with Doña Florinda.
  • La Chilindrina ( Maria Antonieta de las Nieves ) is the daughter of Don Ramón. She is a clever and manipulative girl, but very cute and solidarity can be Ramón with Chavo and her father.
  • La bruja del 71 (Angel Ines Fernandez ) is a middle-aged, not very attractive lady that is held by the children for a witch. She is forever in love with Don Ramón.
