El Cronista

The El Cronista (Spanish: The rapporteur ), until 1989 El Cronista Comercial, is an Argentine daily newspaper of Buenos Aires. It was founded in 1908 by Martin Antonio Giménez. The first issue was published on 1 November 1908.

History

For most of its history was the El Cronista as a subscription newspaper. In 1973 Rafael Perrotta the line of the publisher. During the military dictatorship Perrotta was arrested and disappeared on 13 June 1977. His body was never found. After the kidnapping of Rafael Perrota the newspaper to the owners of the magazine Mercado was (Spanish: market ) sold. These were Julián Delgado, Raul Sarmiento and Mario Alberto Borrini Sekiguchi. The former also disappeared during the dictatorship. Since the newspaper wrote more critical regime, journalists were kidnapped again and again.

In 1986 the newspaper was bought by Eduardo Eurnekian. In 1987, he ruled that the newspaper should not be sold as a subscription, but publicly to every citizen freely accessible. Over time it was sold outside of Buenos Aires. Meanwhile it is sold nationwide. In 1989 the original name was changed to El Cronista. As the first Argentine newspaper it was published in 1994 on the Internet.
