El Universo

El Universo (Spanish for "The Universe ") is a daily newspaper of Guayaquil in Ecuador. It is the newspaper with the highest circulation in Ecuador. The first issue was published on 16 September 1921. The daily newspaper is published without interruption since its founding year, up to a few brief periods in which the newspaper was temporarily closed by dictatorial regimes. Was launched El Universo Ismael Pérez Pazmiño. Today, it is a member of AEDEP, SIP, and the WAN.

The format used by the newspaper is 41 × 28 cm, 98 pages of output are printed in six columns. The contents of El Universo is divided into parts politics, events, migration, the country (General News from Ecuador ), International, Sports, Gran Guayaquil ( Local ), life and scene.

Expenditure

El Universo offers readers a variety of regular Beihefte which beiligen on certain days or at the first of the month the newspaper. The price per issue shall be Monday to Thursday at $ 0.35, $ 0.45 on Friday, $ 0.60 on Saturdays and $ 0.75 on Sundays.

History

On July 20, 2011 Emilio Palacio, then chief of the opinion of editorial staff of El Universo and the publisher of the newspaper brothers Carlos, César and Nicolás Pérez was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and the payment of 28 million euros for slander. Both sides went into the appeal. The occasion was an editorial called "No to the Lies " in the Palacio early February criticized the behavior of Rafael Correa during the Mutiny. He called him several times as a dictator and criticized the decision to allow storm the hospital by force.

On 17 February 2012, the Supreme Court upheld the sentence Equadors. The four defendants were no longer in the range of equadoreanischen Justice. Palacio and two of the directors lived in the United States, where they had sought asylum and the third director refuge in the embassy of Panama.
