Elara (mythology)

Elara (Greek Ἐλάρα ) In Greek mythology, a nymph, daughter of the king of Orchomenus, and with Zeus the mother of Tityus.

Zeus hid Elara, after he had impregnated her, before his jealous wife Hera deep in the earth, so also Tityus son of Gaia is called. At the birth of the giant child's mother died.

In Euboea there should have been a named after her Elarion cave and a Heroon of Tityus.
